Flood water devastates the land wherever it flows and leaves nothing but destruction. It takes with it the population’s houses, crops and dreams for a better tomorrow. Once the disaster has happened, massive relief efforts are required in order to bring the affected people on their feet again. Rukhsana Foundation in association with APPKI (Association Of Physicians of Pakistani descent of Kentucky and Indiana) was alive to the situation and initiated a massive relief effort in flood ravaged District Jaffarabad of Baluchistan in August 2010. This included a permanent shelter project in which a total of 41 concrete block houses were constructed from August 2010 till June 2012. As the housing remains a big issue in the area, the Foundation has decided to construct 9 more houses in order to reach a total number of 50 houses. This construction of 9 houses started in June 2012 and is still going on.
